Electrical Gloves

According to OSHA guidelines, insulating gloves should undergo electrical testing at intervals not exceeding six months. Refer to ASTM F496, the Standard Specification for In-Service Care of Insulating Gloves and Sleeves, for recommended testing procedures. For gloves used frequently, it's advisable to conduct tests as often as once a month to ensure maximum safety.

Rubber Sleeves

Rubber sleeves provide essential protection by covering from the cuff of your rubber gloves up to your shoulder, shielding you from accidental contact with energized equipment, tools, or conductors. To ensure long-lasting durability and safety, it is important to care for rubber sleeves just like insulating rubber gloves and blankets. This includes protecting them from exposure to harsh elements and chemicals and keeping them clean and properly stored.

Hotsticks, Shotgun Sticks, and Switchsticks

OSHA mandates that live line tools, such as hotsticks, switchsticks, and shotgun sticks, be wiped clean and inspected for defects before each use. According to OSHA standard 1910.269(j)(2), if any defects are detected, the tool must be taken out of service for a thorough examination and testing. Additionally, when these tools serve as primary protection, they must be removed from service at least every two years for inspection, cleaning, and necessary testing. Any repaired tools must also undergo retesting before being returned to service.

DISCLAIMER: Premier Safety Test Lab will deem all rubber goods unusable if they fail the dielectric test or visual inspection, unless otherwise requested.
