Protective sleeves are designed to prevent cuts, chemical splashes, dirt, and light abrasions on the arms. Sleeves extend glove coverage by beginning at the wrist and moving up the arm. These sleeves are suitable for protecting against dirt, grime, minor abrasions, as well as dry, non-hazardous materials. The use of chemical-protective sleeves provides additional protection against hazardous and non-hazardous substances. ANSI/ISEA 105 standards are met by sleeves that provide protection from cuts and lacerations. Electrical-insulating sleeves and gloves are worn by workers when they are near electrical hazards in order to prevent arc flashes and burns. In order to protect against burns caused by hot surfaces, heat-resistant sleeves comply with ASTM F1060 standards. Needlestick-resistant sleeves meet ANSI/ISEA 105 standards in order to prevent punctures caused by hypodermic needles and sharp blades.
